About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer to join our team at North Hertfordshire College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver dynamic learning programmes that meet the needs of learners and utilise a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Lead the delivery and assessment of hairdressing and barbering from level 1 to level 3 in a group setting to learners of varying abilities and ages.
  • Be actively involved in the promotion of courses and the recruitment, enrolment, induction and initial assessment of students.
  • Contribute to the development and formative assessment of learners to ensure that learning meets individual needs.
  • Deliver outstanding learning and assessment through creative methods.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with students, particularly in respect of their conduct and behaviour.
  • Undertake effective progress reviews and set SMART targets with learners to monitor progress and support development and achievement.
  • Provide students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.

Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent industry-based qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • A sound knowledge of a range of IT applications including online portfolio systems.
  • Recommended GCSE A*-C or equivalent in maths and English.
  • Hold, or be working towards a relevant teaching qualification such as the Award in Education and Training (AET) or Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
