Job Title: Clinical Leadership Psychiatrist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Leadership Psychiatrist to join our team at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Leadership Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership to one of our South-West Community Mental Health Teams, providing diagnostic assessments and treatment to service users with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed by consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust's personnel policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
  3. Participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
  4. Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust and the team, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
  5. Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and abide by professional codes of conduct.
  6. Participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager to ensure that the post is developed to take into account changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.
  7. Comply with the Trust's agreed policies, procedures, standing orders, and financial instructions, and take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.
  8. Liaise with primary care colleagues, including providing advice to Primary Care Nurses and Additional Role Reimbursement Workers (ARRS) workers dedicated to the Primary Care Network (PCN).

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable:
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • CCT in Psychiatry OR Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry by CESR route OR within six months of achieving CCT/CESR at the time of interview.
CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
  • Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in General Adult psychiatry.
  • Experience of working with service users who have complex needs within General Adult psychiatry.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent degree of medical knowledge in relation to Psychiatry.
ACADEMIC SKILLS LIFELONG LEARNING:
Essential:
  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Participated in continuous professional development.
  • Holds a full valid driving license and access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act).
Desirable:
  • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
  • Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation.
  • Experience of organising and overseeing psychotherapy training program for psychiatry trainees.
