**About the Position**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Standards Officer to join our team As a key member of our Housing Standards team, you will play a vital role in regulating the private rented sector in our district, ensuring that housing standards are met and maintained.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Risk-Based Inspections: Conduct regular risk-based onsite inspections to identify deficiencies in properties and take appropriate enforcement action to address any issues found.
  2. Licence Processing: Process applications and renewals for HMO and caravan site licences, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  3. Immigration and Homes for Ukraine Work: Carry out immigration and Homes for Ukraine inspections, administer relevant paperwork, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  4. Empty Home Tackling: Identify and tackle empty homes across the district, working with property owners and managers to bring these properties back into use.
  5. Evidence Gathering: Gather evidence to support the serving of statutory notices and preparation of evidence bundles for court hearings.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or a related field
  • A professional, approachable, and courteous manner when interacting with members of the public
  • The ability to remain objective while being sensitive to individual circumstances
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
