About the Role
Newcastle University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant/Associate to join our Supporting Children and Families (SCF) theme within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria.
As a Research Assistant/Associate, you will contribute to the delivery of ongoing projects in children and families, develop new projects aligning to your own research interests, and carry out research within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones and to an appropriate standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the delivery of ongoing projects in children and families and to the development of new projects aligning to your own research interests
- Develop projects relating to maternity, infants, children, and families
- Carry out research within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones and to an appropriate standard
- Attend meetings and other events appropriate to the projects
- Prepare papers for publication and disseminate findings at conferences and meetings as required
- Support supervision of undergraduate and masters student dissertations
- Identify and undertake a programme of professional development, including further training in research methods and other transferable skills
- Carry out administrative tasks and other duties to support the management of the SCF theme and the NIHR ARC as required by the Director
Person Specification
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in research, particularly in the areas of children and families, public health, and maternal and child health. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant subject and/or a PhD in a relevant subject, such as public health, maternal health, maternity, child health, or a related field.
The successful candidate will have a clear knowledge and experience of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research, including data collection and analysis, and evidence of ability to co-author peer-reviewed publications. They will also have experience of working on applied health research projects relating to children and families, and the ability to communicate to a range of audiences using a range of presentation approaches.
