About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technician to lead the technical delivery of events at our state-of-the-art venue in Derby. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the technical setup and changeovers for events, ensuring a seamless experience for our clients and guests.

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical delivery of events, including managing load-ins, load-outs, and operating sound, lighting, and temporary power systems.
  • Collaborate with event organizers, promoters, and tour managers to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Supervise casual and local crew, ensuring the safe use of venue grids and gantries.
  • Act as Duty Technician on a rota basis and serve as a key-holder for the venue.
  • Develop and deliver staff training, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and promote a positive health and safety culture within the venue.
  • Provide cross-departmental support and assist in emergency situations when needed.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in an events-based environment, ideally within a similar multi-purpose space with a mixed programme.
  • Passionate about service delivery standards and keen to lead by example.
  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to work without supervision and take responsibility for problem solving, fault-finding and repairs as required.
  • A high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues regarding production and stage production.
  • Experience in the management of statutory requirements.
  • Experience of maintaining technical equipment to a high standard, both proactively and reactively.
