Community Care Department

The Community Care Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors deals with a wide range of social care matters, including care received in the home, institutional accommodation, and health and housing services. Our team of dedicated solicitors and lawyers have extensive experience in handling complex cases and providing expert advice to our clients.

Main Responsibilities of the Role
  • Report directly to the department director and provide professional, proactive support to the team.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients' needs.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Community Care work, including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members.
  • Demonstrate a solid commitment to upholding the rights of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Manage and supervise solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers to ensure effective case management and compliance with file management procedures.
  • Deal with correspondence, maintain accurate time costing procedures, and implement recommendations made by supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with file management procedures and maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  • Develop and implement business development and marketing strategies to supplement the firm's work volumes.
Key Skills Required
  • A clean, valid practicing certificate at the time of applying.
  • A committed team player with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
  • Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators.
  • Excellent client care skills, analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to use own initiative and sound judgment.
  • Working knowledge of publicly funded Community Care work and the ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Extensive experience in dealing with Wills & Probate related work.
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
