Job Title: Senior Commercial Product Owner

Bloomberg is seeking a Senior Commercial Product Owner to join our Consumer Discretionary & Staples team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for driving the commercialization strategy for the Consumer sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive commercialization strategy for the Consumer sector, leveraging deep expertise of the industry and its datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, News, Bloomberg Intelligence, Sales & Analytics, and Engineering, to drive product development and marketing efforts.
  • Take ownership of the quality of Consumer data, ensuring it is fit-for-purpose for clients and aligns with Bloomberg's data strategy.
  • Develop data-driven strategies, balancing technical and product knowledge, and work with engineering and product departments to craft solutions.
  • Mentor the global Consumer team on industry trends, financial modeling, large and complex data projects, and business initiatives related to the Consumer industry.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, or related field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in Data Product Ownership or related field.
  • Deep understanding of the Consumer Discretionary & Staples industry, including ability to quantify trends impacting the industry and provide analysis that can shape commercial decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and industry analysis.
  • Proficiency in data management principles and technologies, including data modeling, data analysis, and statistics.
  • Experience with data integration using multiple data sources.
  • Creative and flexible approach to problem-solving, aided by strong data analysis skills.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and quality control from a data and product perspective.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, preferably Python, to query and interrogate datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as QlikSense and Tableau.
  • Proven track record of effective project management and meeting deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field and/or CFA designation (or working towards it).
  • Familiarity with Consumer analytics data and available industry statistics from sources such as Bureau of Labor Statistics, Industry Associations, and Second Measure.
  • Experience with Bloomberg Company Financials products, Bloomberg terminal fluency, and/or Bloomberg data workflows.
  • Experience with statistical methods, programming, and machine learning approaches to promote and measure data quality and generate insights.
