Key Role for Professional Risk Manager

This is a key role for a skilled Professional Risk Manager seeking to leverage their expertise in managing risk and implementing strategies across an international law firm in Manchester. The successful candidate will head the Legal department, adept at navigating complex risk scenarios and developing effective solutions.

Job Responsibilities

As a Professional Risk Manager, your duties will include:

  • Advising on responses to claims and related issues such as conflicts of interest;
  • Notifying claims and claim circumstances to insurers and liaising with insurers;
  • Managing claims, including complex claims, with guidance from the Senior Professional Risks Manager;
  • Instructing and collaborating with external lawyers;
  • Undertaking root cause analysis and proactively supporting discussions with teams on improving working practices to minimize the risk of claims;
  • Supervising other team members, ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with our policies and procedures, offering support, guidance, and training to develop their knowledge;
  • Supporting the development of fee earners, establishing common trends and areas of training, and delivering training to the teams;
  • Working collaboratively with the Complaints Manager, where appropriate, to improve knowledge across key areas of professional risk and complaints;
  • Preparing internal MI reports for various stakeholders, including the Risk Committee and the Executive Board;
  • Mitigating legal risks and developing strategies to improve risk management;
Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • 5+ years PQE experience;
  • Extensive claims handling experience on complex insurance claims;
  • Excellent communication skills, for interactions and liaison with important insurer stakeholders and others across the business;
