Sunderland, Sunderland, United Kingdom North East Autism Society Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at one of our specialist schools. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and young people to access highly personalised programmes of study.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in accessing their personalised programmes of study
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic well-being
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of lessons, including setting up materials and equipment
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment
About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with autism and neurodivergent needs. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. A comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to thrive in this role.

We value experience, but it is not essential to have previously worked in an education setting or with autistic individuals. What is essential is your willingness to learn, use your initiative, and have a drive and resilience for what can be a demanding role.

If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
