About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Installation and Maintenance Professional to join our team as an EC&I Technician in Reading. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities in accordance with your training, best practice, and trade/legal standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. To plan and prepare works, including producing RAMS documentation.
  2. To carry out work in accordance with work packs, best practice, and applicable trade/legal standards.
  3. To ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, both on-site and in the workplace.
  4. To conduct safety and behavioural observations.
  5. To adhere to quality requirements for each project.
  6. To identify and escalate any defects, damage, or safety hazards to the line manager.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in nuclear industry/power generation is preferred, with a focus on the following areas:
  • Tray, conduit, and Trunking installation
  • Cable pulling, including formation and looping.
  • Glanding and termination, with a focus on cable card compliance.
  • Testing for dead circuits.
  • Inspection and testing of electrical installations, including dead and live testing.
  • Earthing and bonding procedures.
  • Panel installation and wiring.
  • Installation of electrical devices and instrumentation according to RAMS guidelines.
  • Wiring 3-phase motors and isolators.
  • Emergency stop circuit implementation.
  • Fibre and Profibus installation (desired).
Academic Prerequisites:
  1. Hold a Level 3 qualification (e.g., recognised training scheme or apprenticeship) relevant to your trade.
  2. Possess an ECS card relevant to your role and qualifications, which is mandatory for accessing the site.
  3. Be familiar with BS 7671 requirements for electrical installations (latest edition).

The estimated salary for this position is £40,000-£60,000 per annum, based on location and experience. Please note that this estimate may vary based on individual circumstances.
