Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at River Tyne Academy Gateshead. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning of our students, working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of lessons, providing feedback to pupils and colleagues on their learning and behavior.
  • Support the teacher in maintaining and analyzing records of pupils' progress, including assessment activities and monitoring of participation, progress, and responses to learning.
  • Assist in the selection and preparation of teaching resources that meet the diversity of pupils' needs and interests.
  • Provide a purposeful learning environment, promoting good behavior and engaging with young people exhibiting difficult and challenging behavior.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including young people, their families, professionals, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • A good standard of general education to Level 2 or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
  • Experience of working with young people in a wider educational context, including supporting teaching staff and contributing to planning and preparation of lessons.
  • Ability to engage successfully with young people exhibiting difficult and challenging behavior, and to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of interventions with young people and to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with small groups or individuals, and to plan and deliver programs in line with national curriculum core subjects.
