Job Summary:

The Senior Product Engineer (MI/SUS) is a critical role responsible for driving margin improvement and sustaining activities for Semtech products throughout their lifecycle. This includes production release to end-of-life, across various markets, processes, technologies, and requirements.

In this position, you will lead technical investigations impacting product margins and the bottom line of the SIP business unit. You will also be tasked with resolving production issues across test, foundry, and assembly domains for multiple production products. Your involvement will span all stages of a product's lifecycle, including process changes, improvements, and maintenance of the product line.

You will serve as a central resource to help the team meet its annual business plan goals, collaborating with Quality, Operations, Marketing, NPI Product Engineering, and Test Engineering teams to ensure smooth production. Additionally, you will be relied upon to resolve critical production issues promptly, partner with test engineers to develop and drive test and yield optimizations, support and implement test screens for customer returns, and contribute to other cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall ownership of our product's manufacturing at introduction, including regular monitoring of yields and quality at all processing steps.
  • Ensure product bill of materials and routings are up-to-date, as well as all product documentation.
  • Drive optimization of all manufacturing processes, leading to reduced cost of product (COP), predictable yields, and quality levels exceeding customer expectations.
  • Work with Test Engineering to reduce test time and improve test coverage, ensuring timely and effective management of customer returns and non-conforming production.
  • Interface with development engineers to review and influence design for manufacturability for new products.
  • Liaise with Production and Off-Shore Assembly and Test Suppliers to deliver to forecast.
  • Collaborate with internal and external staff to ensure security of supply, working closely with Production Planners, Product, Design, and Test Engineers, Quality Assurance, and Failure Analysis personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 5-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in semi-conductor technology, product, test, and/or design engineering.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, including corrective actions, 8D reports, non-conformance reports, and failure analysis reports.
  • Knowledge of statistical theory and data analysis tools, such as Excel, JMP, Galaxy, and dataConductor, for design of experiments, yield reporting, and modeling.
  • Experience with high-speed digital ATE test platforms or equivalent rack solutions is an asset.
  • Familiarity with JEDEC and/or Mil quality requirements is desirable.
