Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist - Band 7

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist to join our team as a Band 7 Senior Clinician. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supervising the development of Early Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in their team, building a culture of high-quality clinical practice.

As a Senior Clinician, you will be responsible for leading on the development of clinical policies and procedures, as well as providing regular case consultation, support, and advice to senior leaders in schools. You will also hold a small caseload, delivering direct interventions to children and young people (CYP) and families.

We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking clinician who is flexible and able to work effectively with partners in education, multi-agency partners, children, young people, and their families.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and innovative service, working closely with other NHS and voluntary sector organisations to improve the mental wellbeing of the local population.

As a Senior Clinician, you will have the opportunity to attend a fully funded Supervision training (Supervision of Therapeutic Practice) at either Sussex or Southampton University for clinicians who meet the course entry requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and supervise the development of EMHPs in your team
  • Lead on the development of clinical policies and procedures
  • Provide regular case consultation, support, and advice to senior leaders in schools
  • Hold a small caseload, delivering direct interventions to CYP and families
  • Work effectively with partners in education, multi-agency partners, children, young people, and their families
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist who meets the following criteria:

  • Professional degree qualification relevant to the specialist field
  • Membership/registration of relevant professional body
  • Supervision Qualification
  • Knowledge of CYP IAPT and the benefits of low intensity work
  • Knowledge of CYP IAPT outcome measures
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant safeguarding and mental health legislation
  • Ability to motivate, guide, and support staff to develop
  • Ability to provide culturally sensitive support and supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to teach, train, and provide clear consultation
  • Ability to improve services to increase efficiency and enhance patient experience
  • Ability to write concise and informative reports and letters
  • Ability to use and interpret outcome measures to monitor intervention effectiveness
  • Competent ICT skills to collect and interpret data, for reports, presentations, and service performance
  • Able to engage in online meetings
  • Ability to think clinically/therapeutically about client needs
  • Provide online support
  • Evidence of clinical expertise in evidence-based practice
  • Familiarity with electronic patient management systems such as IAPTus, RIO, SystmOne etc.
  • Awareness of relevant initiatives and frameworks, including MHSTs, Thrive, and CYP IAPT
  • Awareness of relevant data monitoring requirements
  • Experience of assessing/working with complex cases
  • Experience of developing clinical policies/procedures
