R&D Pilot Plant Specialist

Main Responsibilities:

  • Optimise the operational efficiency of the pilot plant facility, including procedures, schedules, raw materials supply and replenishment, SAP transactions, storage, and analytical testing requirements.
  • Manage the pilot plant equipment, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), trials, servicing, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure the Health, Safety, and Hygiene requirements of the pilot plant and laboratory are met, adhering to policy and legal standards.
  • Maintain the GMP of the R&D warehouse facility.
  • Ensure the GMP, servicing, and maintenance of the R&D Analytical Laboratory.
  • Coordinate the activities of the development team and pilot plant use to support the delivery of NSV and CCI budget requirements.
  • Proactively investigate new technologies, raw materials, and processes.
  • Interact with suppliers and the general marketplace to ensure awareness of up-to-date ingredients and technologies for new developments.
  • Support the Centre of Excellence (Wet) with expertise and practical support as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience within the food industry in an Operations/Quality or Technical role.
  • HND Food Science/Food Technology (or equivalent) would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience in sauce production.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory, and Customer requirements.
  • Capacity and capability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Able to manage several different projects and priorities at the same time.
  • Able to work effectively cross-functionally across the business, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
