Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd is seeking an experienced Underground Cabling Project Manager to lead the delivery of EHV cable projects. With a strong background in transmission and distribution, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in developing and delivering large EHV cable projects, familiarity with working on projects for NGED, SSEN, NGET, and similar operators, and a willingness to work on various cabling frameworks across the UK.


The successful candidate will oversee project management and delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, within budget, and on schedule. Key qualifications include a successful track record in leading project teams on Cabling projects from design through to closeout, strong program and project management skills, and experience managing design requirements and commercial budgets for such projects.


The role offers the opportunity to work across the UK, starting in the Midlands region, and involves leading project teams, developing and managing good working relationships with clients and sub-contractors, and proactively resolving site issues with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Engineering qualification (HND / HNC) or equivalent industry track record.
• Project management qualification Association for Project Management (APM) or similar.
• Understanding of Engineering principles, Construction Design Management (CDM) guidelines; and working knowledge of Cabling Installation techniques.
• Recognised SHE qualification such as Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) or National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH).
• Experience of working with NGED, SSEN, NGET and other Distribution Network Operators.
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness: experience of managing the design requirements for Cabling projects inclusive of commercial budgets; good knowledge of NEC forms of contract; and good knowledge of Street works, and Local Authority permit requirements.
• Ability to lead and build project teams; and experience of developing and managing good working relationships with client and sub-contractors.
