Job Summary:

As a Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our transport network, managing a team of Partners, and achieving productivity and customer service targets.

About the Role:

As a key member of our Transport Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a Transport Operation: You will be responsible for managing a team of drivers, ensuring that they are equipped to deliver excellent customer service and meet productivity targets.

  • Ensuring Compliance: You will be responsible for ensuring that all legal, health and safety, and operational procedures are adhered to at all times, ensuring the safety of self and others.

  • Supporting Business Growth: You will work closely with the Planning Team to support the delivery of the Business Plan, setting and achieving specific measurable targets for the team.

  • Maximising Productivity: You will be responsible for maximising productivity and managing the usage of overtime and agency to improve costs.

  • Effective Communication: You will effectively communicate operational and business plans and changes to all Partners, supporting the implementation of the communications plan set by the Planning Team.

  • Continuous Improvement: You will support a culture of Continuous Improvement across the department, implementing new projects that will improve the efficiency of the operation and improve branch service.

  • Performance Management: You will be responsible for the performance management of all Partners within the team to ensure the achievement of operational targets.

  • Personnel Policies: You will ensure that all Personnel policies and procedures are followed, enabling Partners to be treated fairly and with respect.

Essential Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent Transport Knowledge: You will need to have a strong understanding of current EU and Working Time regulations.

  • Manual Driving Licence: You will need to hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.

  • Management Experience: You will need to have experience of working in a management role in a Transport / Distribution environment.

  • Health and Safety: You will need to have a good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.

  • Disciplinary Procedures: You will need to have experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures.
