Lead Database Engineer Job Summary:

Workonblockchain is looking for a highly skilled Lead Database Engineer to join our team.

About the Role:

  • You'll oversee the design, building, and operation of new and existing database technologies to cater to diverse user needs.
  • Manage database configurations, ensure system access security, lead database upgrades, and apply the latest patches.
  • Proactively monitor capacity and performance tuning using Oracle OEM to maintain service availability and identify potential issues.
  • You'll manage incidents, requests, changes, and problems while providing resolutions and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Coach senior infrastructure engineers on best practices and keep their skills up-to-date while exploring innovative technologies.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the design, building, and operation of both new and existing database technologies.
  2. Manage database configuration, maintain system access and security, lead database upgrades, and ensure that the latest patches are applied.
  3. Proactively monitor capacity and performance tuning using Oracle OEM to maintain service availability and identify issues before they occur.
  4. Managing incidents, requests, changes, and problems while providing resolutions and conducting root cause analysis.
  5. Coaching senior infrastructure engineers on best practices and ensuring their skills are up to date, while exploring innovative technologies.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • An extensive technical background with solid evidence of database technologies like Oracle RDBMS, Oracle running on Amazon EC2, Oracle running on Amazon RDS, and MongoDB.
  • Experience in leading Oracle upgrades and patching on both RDS and EC2 instances, as well as MongoDB upgrades.
  • A strong understanding of release processes and deployment cycles is essential, especially having deployed releases from test through to live.
