Job Title: Contentious Probate Solicitor

Location: West Yorkshire

Experience: 2 years + PQE

An exciting opportunity has become available in our client's West Yorkshire branch for a Contentious Probate Solicitor.

Your Role:

The primary role of a solicitor is to undertake fee-earning work, promote the image and ethos of the firm, and adhere to agreed practice and procedure as determined.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Client Work: Assist with client work as allocated by the solicitor in charge of the litigation team in accordance with the detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm's office manual.
  • Progress Client Work: Ensure all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
  • Client Care: Exercise high standards of client care at all times in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Confidentiality and Security: Ensure the confidentiality and security of all the firm's and client documentation and information.
  • Billing and Time Recording: Achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
  • Compliance: Comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules and the rules on Professional Conduct of Solicitors.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and precise communications with other personnel of the firm.
  • External Relationships: Ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
  • Support and Supervision: As requested, support, develop, and supervise immediate support staff.
  • Training and Development: Take responsibility for and attend to training and self-development.
  • Training Requirements: In conjunction with the firm, comply with the relevant training requirements of the Law Society and assist with in-house training as may be required.
  • Marketing and Promotion: In liaison with the partners, be active in promoting the services of the firm and its image.
  • Reasonable Tasks: Undertake any reasonable task as requested.
  • Case Handling: Day-to-day handling of a wide variety of cases.
  • Case Load Management: Experience of running own case load and being able to pick up cases partway through.
  • Matter Conduct: Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
  • Teamwork: Work as part of the team.
Person Specification:

Key skills/qualifications required:

  • Admitted to the Solicitors' Roll
  • Experience in Contentious Probate Work and/or Litigation is a must have.
  • Ideally 2+ years Post-Qualified Experience (PQE)
  • Commitment to the ethos, values, and strategy of the firm
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer and Word processing skills essential
  • Organized and self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment
