We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Project Lead to join our esteemed team at Michael Taylor Search & Selection. As a Mechanical Project Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of the mechanical package from technical design aspects and procurement stages through to delivery and handover.

Project Overview

The project involves managing a high-spec residential / retirement home scheme, encompassing shell and core services, 1st fix, and second fix. The MEP package is valued at circa £27 million, with the overall construction value standing at approximately £70 million.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and understand the estimate/tender for the mechanical project elements in conjunction with the project team, ensuring alignment with the client's requirements, deliverables, risks, and liabilities.
  • Manage the development of MEP design in accordance with the Client/Project brief, contract, legislation, planning, building regulations, CDM, technical requirements, budget, and programme, safeguarding the client's interests.
  • Establish a productive working relationship with the client on all mechanical installation responsibilities, concerning design and coordination activities, and develop contract/project opportunities.
  • Ensure efficient production of Mechanical project engineering through installation, adhering to project conditions and requirements, taking account of the CDM and other project quality and programme requirements.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of project procurement, mechanical plant, material, kit, control, and costing policies and procedures, producing accurate and current project procurement schedules, and cost reports for senior project management.
  • Assess and organize the mechanical resources required to execute the project safely, efficiently, and profitably.
  • Communicate all information to project team members, including project contractual conditions, specifications, drawings, and working instructions for the execution of the project.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of mechanical project installations and procedures both on-site and off-site.
  • Supervise and motivate project team members, including training and development, throughout the project.
Requirements
  • HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Proven experience in managing commercial projects with a minimum mechanical value of circa £5 million.
  • Familiarity with working on large, technically challenging projects within a multidisciplinary team.
