We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our Downstream Process Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and reporting laboratory-based experiments or investigations in accordance with scientific or regulatory requirements.

The role will involve involvement in activities ranging from vector production at laboratory and pilot scales, process development and optimisation, technology transfer, and process characterization activities associated with the manufacture of new gene therapy vectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological research and development, with experience in the operation of laboratory, pilot or production scale downstream purification processes.

They will also have competency in data capture, reporting and management systems, and the ability to explain clearly why an experiment is being conducted and how the experiments help the group meet their objectives.

Awareness of regulatory requirements, such as GMP, GLP, GCP and/or Validation and Quality Management systems, is also essential.

The successful candidate will be a team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform and report laboratory-based experiments or investigations
  • Involve in activities ranging from vector production to process characterization

  • Liaise with other members of the team and assist with other development activities

Requirements:

  • BSc Degree programme level, a postgraduate degree and/or relevant experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience in biological research and development or equivalent experience gained elsewhere
  • Experience with the operation of laboratory, pilot or production scale downstream purification processes
  • Competency in data capture, reporting and management systems
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements
