The Children's Home Manager will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, while promoting positive outcomes for each child. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage complex cases and support children with emotional and behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the children's home, ensuring that the home provides a safe, caring, and structured environment for children and young people.
- Oversee and manage a team of care staff, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safeguarding policies and practices, promoting the welfare of every child.
- Care and Support:
- Develop and implement individual care plans for each child, ensuring that their emotional, social, and physical needs are met.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with the children, creating a stable and supportive atmosphere.
- Ensure that the home is run in accordance with the children's care plans, local authority expectations, and Ofsted requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that the home operates within the framework of relevant legislation, such as the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory bodies, such as Ofsted, and ensure the home meets or exceeds standards during audits and reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all necessary documentation, policies, and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
- Safeguarding and Child Protection:
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the home, ensuring that all safeguarding issues are addressed promptly and in line with local procedures.
- Ensure all staff are trained in safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
- Monitor and report any concerns relating to child safety, well-being, and development to the appropriate authorities.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage the home's budget, including staffing costs, supplies, and other operational expenses.
- Ensure the home is well-resourced and maintained to a high standard, providing a comfortable living environment for children.
- Partnership Working:
- Liaise effectively with external agencies, such as social services, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and families, to ensure comprehensive support for each child.
- Work collaboratively with local authorities and other stakeholders to support the development and implementation of care strategies.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practices within the home.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve the quality of care, ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Requirements:
- Experience:
