Job Title: Special Education Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Assistant to join our team at The Aurora Group. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of needs, including PMLD, complex medical conditions, and autism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with their learning, development, and progress in all areas of the curriculum
  • Help young people with a range of needs to achieve their educational and personal goals
  • Develop a greater understanding of Special Education issues and demonstrate these in all aspects of the role
  • Provide high-quality support in all aspects of the role
  • Participate in physical intervention and personal care routines as required
Requirements:
  • Willingness to work towards getting formal qualifications and attend training
  • Passion and compassion for children and young people with additional needs
  • Ambition and determination to overcome barriers to learning
  • Ability to work supportively as a team member and confidentially when working independently
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in relation to our students' communication needs
  • Ability to understand and deliver effective education and support in line with identified needs
  • Education to at least Level 2 (or equivalent) Maths and English
