Astute's power team is seeking an Electrical Engineer Technician to work at a large Energy from Waste plant in Kent, South East England.

This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, overtime, call out payments, and benefits package.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for all reactive and preventative maintenance across various critical equipment including DCS/SCADA Systems, PLCs, drives, motors, switchgear, etc.

This role requires someone with hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation, and control systems gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, etc.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant technical qualification such as an NVQ/OVC/HNC in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation engineering or a similar discipline.

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Perform pre-planned and reactive maintenance duties on electrical, controls, and instrumentation assets across the power station.
  2. Fault find and maintain electrical systems; motors, drives, single phase, three phase equipment, switchgear, high/low voltage plant, etc., and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow) and control systems.
  3. Calibrate instrumentation.
  4. Conduct continuous improvement activities, plant modifications, and design work.
  5. Supervise 3rd-party contractors.
  6. Work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices.
  7. Assist in plant developments and projects.
  8. Maintain accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS.
  9. Assist in outage planning, scheduling, and coordination.
  10. Evaluate spares availability.
