Critical Care Sister/Charge Nurse Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Critical Care Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Critical Care Team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading by example in a fast-paced environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the unit in the absence of the manager, ensuring seamless delivery of care and services.
- Provide specialist knowledge and expertise to nursing staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient care, quality, and safety, in line with Trust policies and procedures.
- Possess the clinical knowledge and skills to care for critically ill patients, including those with multiple organ failure and complex nursing needs.
- Explore and undertake expanded practice to optimize patient care, in accordance with unit and Trust policies.
Management/Leadership Responsibilities
- Exercise effective leadership, acting as an exemplary role model for the unit team and promoting a positive work environment.
- Liaise with nursing, medical, and allied health professional colleagues to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Support the implementation of risk management policies, including the development of action plans to address identified risks.
- Ensure effective communication with relatives, Trust staff, and other hospitals to facilitate smooth patient transfers and after-care.
Person Specification
Essential
- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration.
- Post-registration qualification in critical care or equivalent.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance.
- Evidence of developing high standards of patient care through clinical benchmarking.
- Evidence of working with pre and post-registration students.
