Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Air Systems Engineer to join our team at Mitie. As an Authorising Engineer for Medical Gas and Pressure Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical compliance of our healthcare, education, and care and custody divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out audits and inspections of technical compliance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as directed by the Communities Chief Authorising Engineer (CAE).
  • Conduct investigations using root cause analysis (RCA) of incidents, accidents, or failures involving management, planning, engineering systems, and equipment to prevent recurrence.
  • Become familiar with each site, keeping abreast of changes to sites, systems, and risks.
  • Attend relevant Safety Groups as required by HTM 00 and client requirements to ensure Mitie's representation, minimize risk, drive collaboration, and create opportunities.
  • Report to the CAE and Account Manager any deficiency in the number of trained and competent Authorising Persons (APs) that may impair site, system, and discipline coverage.
  • Support the assessment and development of APs through training.
  • Work with the CAE to develop technical bulletins, toolbox talks, and training to ensure risks are mitigated and requirements are understood across the portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to complete RCA and utilize data to identify deficiencies, trends, and opportunities.
  • Ability to work towards agreed development pathways, if required.
