Job Title: A&E Therapy Physiotherapist

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist physiotherapy team in a two-year fixed-term contract. The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

The team works alongside Occupational Therapists, Learning Disability Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Behaviour Therapists, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists; providing assessments and interventions for adults with a learning disability living in their own homes covering Southend, Castlepoint, and Rochford, Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford, and Thurrock.

As this is a community post, the post holder will require a full UK driving license and have access to their own car for home visits.

As this is a fixed-term contract, we are unable to provide sponsorship.

Main Duties of the Job
  • To manage a caseload as a member of a Physiotherapy team, providing specialist assessments and treatments for patients in the community, who have learning disabilities with highly complex acute or chronic symptoms.
  • To teach some specialist skills of assessment, analysis, and treatment to other physiotherapy staff, health staff, and carers.
  • To maintain and further develop professional skills to have the ability to progress treatments and services for people with Learning Disabilities.
  • To represent the Physiotherapy team and provide sound advice, as agreed within the Service, to other NHS professionals and other agencies.
  • To assist with training for students, carers, and physiotherapy staff.

Job Responsibilities
  • To assess patients in a timely manner and provide a high standard of physiotherapy to patients accessing the service.
  • To manage own clinical caseload
  • To where appropriate provide advice to other health professionals, social services, and voluntary agencies.
  • To supervise and teach Physiotherapy Technical Instructors, Assistant Practitioners, and students as appropriate.
  • To participate in a full Learning Disability Service within the organisation.
Person Specification
  • Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Health Care Professions Council State Registration
  • Current up-to-date CPD portfolio
  • Appropriate post-registration experience and training.
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Knowledge
  • Requires a high level of expertise working with adults with a learning disability.
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and within the Physiotherapy Team
  • A demonstrable interest in working in LD as a specialist physiotherapist
  • Ability to take the lead with projects and tasks.
Additional Qualities
  • Fitness Analysis as appropriate
  • Current driving license Ability to travel across sites and across Trust boundaries to attend meetings, etc
