Purchase Ledger Clerk Job Description

POST recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our Finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the global purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain approval of supplier invoices from budget holders within agreed service level agreements
  • Accurately post supplier invoices into SAP, ensuring timely and efficient processing
  • Match invoices to purchase orders, resolving any discrepancies or exceptions
  • Resolve supplier or purchasing queries, providing excellent customer service
  • Prepare and execute regular payment runs in multiple currencies, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Reconcile supplier accounts to supplier statements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies
  • Regularly review the purchase ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy, making recommendations for process improvements
  • Negotiate payment terms with suppliers, ensuring optimal payment schedules
  • Enter new supplier accounts into SAP, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
  • Process and pay employee expense claims in line with company policies
  • Reconcile and post credit card transactions, ensuring accurate financial records
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring excellent customer service
  • Oversee the relevant workload of the Finance Assistant, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Perform ad hoc payments as required, ensuring timely and efficient processing
  • Prepare regular reports and analysis on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, providing insights to aid forecasting
  • Work closely with the Assistant Accountant and Financial Controller to provide information and support
  • Identify potential process or system improvements, supporting the implementation of agreed improvements
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as required, providing expertise and support
  • Support the learning and development of colleagues, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement
  • Perform additional duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
