About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Category Specialist to join our Finance & Governance department. As a Category Specialist, you will play a crucial role in understanding markets for your category and advising on procurement strategies, procurement processes, and contract awards that meet our strategic priorities and context.

You will enable category management in the Council and report to a Category Lead. Your key responsibilities will include advising on and running appropriate procurement activities for purchasing and informing contracts which can be readily managed. You will also be responsible for drafting and providing advice on preparation of procurement documents (tenders, specifications, etc.), running a procurement process in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Council's own processes and procedures, and being familiar with using eProcurement systems.

We are looking for a Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualified or experienced procurement professional with knowledge and experience of supplies and services, and works which sit under the Council wide category. Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on procurement strategies, procurement processes, and contract awards that meet our strategic priorities and context
