About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neighbourhood Officer to join our team at Adult Social Care. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enforcing housing legislation and providing exceptional customer service to our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough housing inspections to ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation and regulations.
- Provide expert technical and legislative advice to colleagues and stakeholders on housing standards and best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, investigations, and compliance meetings.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and maintain effective community partnerships and relationships.
- Contribute to community safety priorities and initiatives to improve neighbourhood conditions and quality of life for our residents.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in housing enforcement, compliance, or regulatory work.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation and regulations, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with tenants, landlords, and other stakeholders.
- Previous experience working in local government or public sector housing services, with a focus on community safety and neighbourhood improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) or willingness to obtain this qualification.
- Familiarity with issues affecting private sector housing tenants and owners, including housing standards and building safety.
- Experience with IT systems and software applications related to housing services, including data management and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of building construction and safety standards is an asset, but not required.
