BUILDING SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

We are currently seeking an experienced Building Systems Specialist to join our team in the United Kingdom.

About the Role:

The Building Systems Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of on-site technicians and subcontractors, and collaborating with facility managers and stakeholders to understand specific maintenance needs and allocate resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, elevators, and other critical equipment
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify any potential maintenance issues and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades
  • Coordinate and supervise all planned maintenance, repairs, and emergency services to ensure minimal disruption to building operations
  • Manage and oversee a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with facility managers and stakeholders to understand the specific maintenance needs and allocate resources accordingly
  • Source, evaluate, and manage third-party vendors and subcontractors, ensuring their compliance with service contracts and safety regulations
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment maintenance, and costs
  • Review and optimize maintenance processes, policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations in accordance with company policies and local legislation
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in maintenance management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as a Building Systems Specialist or in a similar role, preferably within commercial real estate
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance practices
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues
  • Proficient in using maintenance management software and CAFM systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
