Job Summary

To excel as a Restaurant Operations Manager at Marriott International, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the JW Steakhouse Restaurant and supervising staff. Your key areas of focus include Restaurants/Bars and Park Lane Market, if applicable. Key responsibilities include assisting in daily restaurant operations, assisting with menu planning, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting servers and hosts during peak meal periods.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly skilled individual with previous experience working in an F&B operation at a managerial level. A background in a luxury, five-star operation is preferred. Good English language skills are essential. Key qualifications include strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing), previous experience as a Restaurant manager in a fast-paced, luxury venue, and a passion for Food and Beverage. Additionally, extensive knowledge of food, beverage, quality products, and ingredients is required, as well as the ability to grow and develop our existing menu. Excellent personal presentation, experience managing, developing, and motivating a team, and adaptability and flexibility are also important.

Main Responsibilities

As a Restaurant Operations Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of the restaurant team. This includes handling employee questions and concerns, monitoring employees to ensure performance expectations are met, providing feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviors, assisting in supervising daily shift operations, and supervising the restaurant and all related areas in the absence of the Director of Restaurants or Restaurant Manager. You will also participate in department meetings by communicating a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results.

You will conduct day-to-day restaurant operations, including ensuring all employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms, communicating to the Chef and Restaurant Manager any issues regarding food quality and service levels, ensuring compliance with all restaurant policies, standards, and procedures, monitoring alcohol beverage service in compliance with local laws, performing all duties of restaurant employees and related departments as necessary, and opening and closing restaurant shifts. Furthermore, you will provide exceptional customer service by interacting with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, supervising staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met, encouraging employees to provide excellent customer service within guidelines, handling guest problems and complaints, seeking assistance from supervisor as necessary, striving to improve service performance, and meeting and greeting guests.

In addition, you will conduct human resource activities, such as supervising ongoing training initiatives, using all available on-the-job training tools for employees, communicating performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position, coaching and counseling employees regarding performance on an ongoing basis, and providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. You will also assist servers and hosts on the floor during meal periods and high demand times, recognize good quality products and presentations, supervise daily shift operations in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, and contribute to a positive work environment by adhering to company values and principles.

The estimated salary for this role is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
