About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Northern Oesophagogastric unit. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert nursing care, advice, and support to patients with oesophagogastric conditions throughout their treatment pathway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing care, advice, and support to patients with oesophagogastric conditions.
  • Act as a key worker for patients, coordinating care and acting as a liaison between the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring holistic and patient-centred care.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and education, including wound care, pain management, and discharge planning.
  • Support patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and other treatments, providing education and symptom management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and clinical audits to ensure high standards of care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols for oesophagogastric care.
  • Provide education and training to nursing staff, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals on oesophagogastric care.
  • Engage in research and clinical trials, contributing to the unit's evidence-based practice.
  • Support the unit's outreach activities, including patient education events and community engagement.
