Financial Reporting and Compliance Expert

QA Higher Education is seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing our financial controls and regulatory reporting, including group and subsidiary statutory accounts, VAT return submission, corporation tax submission, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the timely production of annual group, subsidiary, and JV statutory accounts.
  2. Manage interim and year-end audit process for group and JVs.
  3. Ensure VAT and corporation tax submissions are accurate, paid, and filed on time.
  4. Ensure any other regulatory reporting is accurate and submitted on time.
  5. Assist with the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and other tasks as required.
  6. Assist with the preparation and review of working capital reporting, including variance analysis.
  7. Review and maintain accounting policies and procedures documents to ensure they are current and in line with relevant accounting standards.
  8. Research and advise on any new accounting standards and regulatory reporting to ensure compliance, including drafting policies, procedures, and implementing controls for these.
  9. Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and functioning effectively. Review any issues arising and draft and implement mitigating controls and procedures for all areas of accounting and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA).
  • Previous experience in a role with accounting, compliance, and auditing responsibilities.
  • Evidence of having monitored financial and operating processes and controls and provided recommendations for improvement.
  • Experience of managing the year-end audit process.
  • Previous VAT and corporation tax experience.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS, accounting principles, procedures, and controls.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Sound knowledge of VAT and corporation tax and experience of having prepared returns for these.
