Education Specialist

Dunbar Education is seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Outreach Teacher to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality education and support to students with special educational needs, fostering their academic and personal growth in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality education by planning and teaching a broad curriculum that meets the needs of students with SEN, adapting materials to suit a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Develop and implement individualised learning plans (ILPs) to meet each learner's specific needs, including those with learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, or emotional needs, and track their progress.
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour in students, helping them to take ownership of their learning.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, teaching assistants, therapists, social workers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support and development.
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience and consistency, employing restorative practices and strategies that promote emotional regulation and positive change in students.
- Provide education that promotes social, emotional, and life skills development, preparing students for further education, employment, or independent living.
- Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection are maintained, reporting any concerns in line with school policies.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications.
- Experience working with young people with complex needs, including those with SEN, behavioural, emotional, or learning difficulties.
- Experience in an SEN setting or alternative education provisions is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and professionals from various disciplines to support student progress.
- Resilience to remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour.
- Commitment to inclusion, with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they receive the education and care they deserve.
- Full-time only, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Knowledge or experience of working in a secondary SEN provision or similar educational settings.
- Experience in developing life skills programmes and vocational training for students with SEN.
- Training in behaviour management, emotional regulation, and restorative practices.
- No planning or work outside of contracted hours.
