About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Software Engineering to join our Corporate Technology team at JP Morgan Chase Bank, National Association. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing technical coaching and advisory to multiple technical teams, as well as anticipating the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks.
  • Decision Making: Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
  • Issue Mitigation: Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
  • Strategic Input: Provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.

Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Formal training or certification on technology project leadership concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
  • Team Leadership: Experience leading teams of technologists.
  • Goal Achievement: Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
  • Talent Development: Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Cloud Native Experience: Practical cloud native experience.
  • Automation and Continuous Delivery: Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Software Development Life Cycle: Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Agile Methodologies: Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
  • Production Changes: Experience delivering production changes to complex software using Java (or Scala) and associated frameworks (ideally Spark).
  • Data-Oriented Problems: Ability to solve data-oriented problems using multiple relevant technologies e.g. SQL, Relational DB, Spark, NoSQL etc. while optimizing for performance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Code-Level Experience: Experience working at code level.
  • Financial Services Industry: In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, ideally with experience in Liquidity and/or Risk domains.
