About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Architect to join our Product Architecture team at Best Buy Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our product and platform, enabling goals through architectural vision, consultation, and intervention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Absorb cross-cutting business and product problems and work with the Product Architecture team to define and enable a common vision of our intended product and architecture destinations.
  • Participate in technical design review sessions across the software engineering organization and help integrate them with other threads in complementary areas.
  • Collaborate with the Product and UX organizations to ensure we're building the right thing at the right time.
  • Prototype, research, and de-risk novel approaches and ways of thinking that can reduce, remove, or solve impediments to product goals.
  • Contribute to core enabling architectural and platform building blocks to make product delivery easier and amplify the effort of individual product delivery teams.
  • Provide technical and product coaching, advice, and leadership to the wider team as one of its most experienced members.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bias towards Product Engineering, focusing on how architectural decisions benefit the product, clients, patients, and business goals.
  • Significant IC depth in at least one fundamental area of applicable technology, raising the existing technical bar in the team.
  • Practical experience evolving the wider architecture of a platform to increase flexibility and introduce abstractions that enable business growth.
  • Experience with capturing and optimizing the customer/patient journey via tooling and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in event-driven Java microservices, AWS fully-managed-service bias, distributed systems, streaming/event-based architectures, and graph databases.
