Kitchen Porter Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team at the Glasgow Argyle Hotel, Signature Collection by Best Western.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our guests and staff.
  • Assist the chefs with food preparation, including washing and cleaning dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy, including sweeping and mopping floors, and removing trash and recycling.
  • Assist with basic food preparation, such as peeling and chopping vegetables.
  • Receive and store deliveries of food and supplies, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Help set up and close down the kitchen, ensuring a smooth operation.
  • Assist in the cleaning of cooking equipment and work surfaces.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the kitchen team to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Report any maintenance or health and safety issues to the relevant person.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.
