About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Gastroenterology Team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical services, and contributing to the development of our gastrointestinal medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our existing team of nine Consultants in Gastroenterology to deliver excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Perform all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, including colonoscopy and gastroscopy.
  • Contribute to the development of our gastrointestinal medicine services, including audit and clinical governance.
  • Provide training and teaching to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the management of our Gastroenterology Department, including leadership and decision-making.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant with:

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or within six months of CCT.
  • Recent experience in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
