Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Futura Design Limited. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of our OEM client's products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design systems and components for new and updated accessory projects, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly, and quality.
  • Produce good quality 3D CAD models using Creo.
  • Produce good quality 2D engineering drawings, to ASME Y14.5.
  • Follow and help maintain design, operational, and quality procedures.
  • Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required, and present these designs in cross-functional team reviews.
  • Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements and internal test procedures where needed.
  • Liaise with internal departments such as Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Assembly.
  • Liaise with outside suppliers.
  • Manage your own time and workload effectively.
  • Create and manage timing plans for your areas of responsibility.
  • Work with CAD Designers or contractors allocated to help with creating CAD models.
  • Support testing department with the fixturing and testing of components and motorcycles.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) with proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Pro-engineer/CREO.
  • Minimum 3 years experience designing for manufacture and showing a good knowledge of processes, such as castings, forgings, sheet metal, and injection mouldings.
  • Experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings to ASME Y.
  • Understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings, to ASME Y.
  • Good understanding of motorcycle chassis layout and construction.
  • Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting and mentoring junior team members would be advantageous.
  • IMechE membership is desirable.
