International Tax Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior International Tax Specialist to join our team at HM Revenue and Customs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional with expertise in Transfer Pricing and/or wider International Tax work to lead on complex enquiries and projects, strengthen HMRC's efforts to close the tax gap, and influence policy and strategy.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for technical leadership of a team of experienced International Tax Specialists and Corporation Tax Specialists, focusing on building their capabilities through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
You will work closely with key colleagues across the organisation, including Customer Compliance Managers, cross-tax regime technical specialists, policy, economists, and accountants, to deliver high-quality results and drive business success.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on risk assessment and enquiry work end-to-end, involving complex Transfer Pricing and/or wider International Tax issues;
- Manage and develop a team of experienced tax professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive business outcomes, inform policy and strategy, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions;
- Work with external customers and their representatives to provide expert advice and guidance on complex tax matters;
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Significant recent experience of Transfer Pricing of multinational enterprises gained in HMRC, industry, or in practice; and/or significant recent experience in a wider International Tax work in respect of multinationals in HMRC, industry, or in practice;
- An excellent understanding of international tax and OECD Frameworks;
- A proven ability to successfully manage and lead complex enquiries or projects end-to-end;
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal;
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills – ability to work across a range of stakeholders both internally and externally;
You should hold one of the following qualifications (alternative qualifications will be considered on their merits):
- HMRC Tax Specialist Programme or previous equivalent (Direct Tax) or an external equivalent qualification such as Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA)/Associate of the Taxation Institute Incorporated (ATII), Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT), or Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) membership qualification;
- Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer (including the Professional stage Business and Commercial Law module) in England and Wales (or equivalents in Scotland and Northern Ireland), provided that direct tax matters make up a substantial part of your professional experience;
