Job Title: Microbiology Quality Control Technician

At Eurofins UK Food Testing, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Microbiology Quality Control Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System, ensuring the maintenance and extension of all accreditations at a local level, and driving a culture of outstanding Quality to exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare working cultures according to Laboratory Procedures.
  • Carry out routine microbiological testing on culture media according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist in investigations and evaluations as required.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and client queries in a timely manner.
  • Test and report external proficiency scheme samples accurately, including investigations into unsatisfactory results.
  • Maintain Internal Quality Control and ensure it is acceptable.
  • Assist with collation of monthly quality KPI data.
  • Participate in internal audits, especially where QC testing is involved.
  • Calibrate and monitor laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain stock levels and perform general laboratory housekeeping.
  • Carry out internal test method audits and ensure audit programs are adhered to.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed following internal and external auditing.
  • Maintain equipment records, calibration, and monitoring, and ensure appropriate records are kept.
  • Assist with training of laboratory staff.
  • Collate information and reports for the Annual Management Review meeting.
  • Raise issues related to Quality and investigate using root cause analysis.
  • Participate in and facilitate external laboratory audits.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers on relevant areas.
  • Escalate issues affecting Quality performance to Group Quality Managers and Director of Technical and Quality.
Requirements:
  • A-Levels or GCSE Maths & English.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory activities.
  • Ability to use MS Office programs.
  • Experience of laboratory operations.
  • Competence in IT, including LIMS, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Experience of working with a broad range of internal and external customers.
