W Talent Manufacturing and Engineering are supporting a leading manufacturer in Derbyshire, dedicated to delivering high-quality technical products across various industries. We're seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead our site's senior leadership team.

About the Role

We require a highly skilled Health and Safety Leader with a proven track record in supporting manufacturing organisations with technical and strategic safety improvements. The successful candidate will drive a successful behavioural change programme and support the business in prioritising workflow for optimal results across the facility.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Developing Health and Safety Strategies: Create and implement a health and safety strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring a proactive and prevention-based approach.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Act as the point of contact for HSE Inspectors, facilitating site inspections and reviews. Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards, and ensure the facility's compliance with all relevant laws.
  3. Risk Assessment: Conduct and review risk assessments, including hazard identification and process safety assessments, to mitigate potential health and safety risks.
  4. Training and Education: Create and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring a culture of safety awareness and competence.
  5. Health and Safety Reporting: Prepare regular health and safety reports for senior management and regulatory authorities, providing insights and recommendations.
  6. Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and track progress.
  7. Fostering a Strong Safety Culture: Promote employee engagement, feedback, and participation in safety initiatives, driving a strong safety culture within the organisation.
About You
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma or equivalent - minimum expectation.
  • Proven experience working as part of a Senior Leadership team.
  • A background in a High Hazard environment is highly advantageous, particularly in nuclear, defence, heavy industry, or chemical sectors.
  • Significant experience in management, leading teams of Health and Safety professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with COMAH, DSEAR, or ATEX regulations would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Leadership and team development skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
