About Us:

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are seeking a Planning Officer/Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for implementing development management and planning decision-making, reflecting the nature of our districts and how they function.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of planning policies and procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders. You will be highly attuned to the needs of our communities and committed to delivering excellent customer service.

We offer a competitive salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time), a generous leave entitlement, a competitive local government pension scheme, wellbeing support programme, employee assist programme, and healthcare options. Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Implementing development management and planning decision-making, reflecting the nature of our districts and how they function.
  • Providing expert advice on all planning and associated matters in committee and appeal settings.
  • Representing both councils at a parish and town council level on the implementation of spatial planning decision-making and development management.
