About the Role:

Fenix Rail Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Signalling Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design delivery elements of various projects and technical consulting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Signalling Discipline Leader in the management of design delivery elements of projects and technical consulting tasks.
  • Work with cross-functional project specialists to develop project programmes, including time and resource planning and skills matrix development.
  • Develop design scope from client technical documentation, support tender submissions, and participate in pre-project site visits.
  • Conduct risk and impact assessments to ensure projects meet key dates and deadlines.
  • Participate in technical review meetings and provide feedback to the design team.
  • Support the Design Manager's weekly Design Review meeting and take the chair when necessary.
  • Act as a tactical point of contact for assigned client projects, attending meetings and site visits.
  • Mentor colleagues to ensure technical standards are deployed and methodologies are consistent with safety-critical environments.
  • Provide regular reports on team project performance and review progress to meet programme timescales.
  • Implement design scope and ensure the design team understands project requirements.
  • Lead project start-up briefings with other technical functions for assigned projects.
  • Sign off outline and design specifications for design review.
  • Manage day-to-day line management responsibility for assigned design teams.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's document management migration in an electronic environment.

Requirements:

  • Current Principles Design License category 1.1.550
  • Verifiers 1.1.160 License (within the IRSE framework)
  • HNC or higher qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer or Engineering Manager
  • CRE experience and understanding of the Bid/Tender process
  • At least 10 years' experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Self-motivated and comfortable with development and good working relationships in a collaborative approach
