Job Summary

The Limehouse Practice is seeking a skilled Clinical Coder to join our team. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and code patient medical records in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Enter pertinent information into the patient's electronic medical record, adhering to the Coding Protocol and QOF standards.
  • Highlight clinician action and workflow to appropriate clinicians or teams as per Workflow Protocol.
  • Organize patient medical records to link problem titles and ensure accurate coding.
  • Check incoming medical records and summarize them onto the clinical system.
  • Recognize own knowledge limits and seek advice from clinical or administrative colleagues as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks as delegated by the Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accurately code data on EMIS into the patient record.
  • Identify relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence and code appropriately.
  • Input and extract data as required to support practice reports.
  • Filing and storing records as required.
  • Photocopying documentation as needed.
  • Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails, and mail in a timely manner.
  • Scanning patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient healthcare records.
  • Inputting data into patient healthcare records as necessary.
  • Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls, or dealing with callers' requests appropriately.
  • Carrying out system searches as requested.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times.
  • Checking incoming medical summaries and recording them into the clinical system.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Deputy Practice Manager).
  • Participate in audit as directed by the audit lead.
  • Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absences.
  • Book appointments.
