Job Overview

As an Assistant Head Teacher, you will support the Headteacher in communicating the school's vision and strategic leadership. This role involves the day-to-day management of the school, formulating aims and objectives, and establishing policies to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities


  • Support the Headteacher in communicating the school's vision and strategic leadership
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the school
  • Formulate aims and objectives for the school
  • Establish policies to achieve the school's aims and objectives
  • Manage staff and resources to achieve the school's goals
  • Monitor progress towards the achievement of the school's aims and objectives
  • Have a timetabled teaching commitment, complying with the Teachers' Standards
  • Undertake any duties delegated from the Headteacher


Curriculum and Assessment


  • Establish and sustain high-quality teaching across subjects and phases, based on evidence
  • Ensure the teaching of a broad, structured, and coherent curriculum
  • Establish curriculum leadership, including subject leaders with relevant expertise
  • Use valid, reliable, and proportionate approaches to assessing pupils' knowledge and understanding of the curriculum

  • Uphold educational standards to prepare pupils for their next phase of education and life
  • Ensure a culture of staff professionalism
  • Encourage high standards of behaviour from pupils, based on rules and routines

Requirements


  • Experience of leading curriculum, line managing staff, and data and progress
  • NPQSL/NASENCo qualification or willingness to work towards it
  • QTS qualification
