Job Description

White Swan Data is a leading provider of data-driven solutions for the betting and gambling industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantitative Researcher to join our team of mathematicians, data scientists, and software engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Refine Quantitative Models: Utilize mathematical and machine learning techniques to develop, implement, and refine quantitative models that drive business decisions.
  • Conduct In-Depth Research: Conduct research to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems within various domains, including sports analytics and other quantitative fields.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data-driven insights and contribute to the design and testing of trading or decision-making strategies.
  • Explore New Techniques: Explore and evaluate new quantitative techniques and machine learning methods to enhance existing models and systems.
  • Present Findings: Present findings and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
  • PhD in a Relevant Field: PhD in a relevant field such as Mathematical Modelling, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Proven Expertise: Proven expertise in mathematical modelling and the ability to develop complex quantitative models.
  • Postdoctoral Research Experience: Postdoctoral research experience or other significant academic/industry research experience is highly desirable.
  • Programming Skills: Solid programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Python, R, or C++, and experience with data science and machine learning libraries.
  • Advanced Statistical Techniques: Strong understanding of advanced statistical techniques, probability theory, optimization, and numerical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sports Modelling Experience: Demonstrated experience in sports modelling, with a deep understanding of quantitative techniques used in the analysis of sports performance and predictions.
  • Machine Learning Methods: Proficiency in machine learning methods, with experience in applying these techniques to solve real-world problems.
  • Research Experience: A track record of publishing research or contributing to high-impact projects in the field of machine learning or quantitative modelling.
  • Large Dataset Experience: Experience with large datasets, including data cleaning, feature extraction, and model evaluation.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a creative and analytical mindset.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
