Spencer Quantum Ltd, a member of RSK Group, is a leading provider of multi-disciplinary services with a strong focus on geotechnical and geoenvironmental expertise. We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer Graduate to join our growing Geotechnical Division, covering primarily our South Wales based region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with ground investigation projects across South Wales and occasionally South West area, as and when required. Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking Phase 1 desk studies and liaising with clients, engineering supervisors, and subcontractors
  • Assisting in setting up and organizing ground investigation works, including drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing
  • Supervising intrusive investigation activities and processing & interpretation of field and laboratory results
  • Factual ground investigation report writing and progressing to interpretative report writing

Requirements:

  • BSc degree level qualified in geology/earth sciences or a related environmental subject
  • Previous UK ground investigation site experience is essential, and knowledge of various techniques employed
  • MSc in a geotechnical/engineering geology discipline preferable, but not essential
  • Ability to log samples to BS 5930+A2 technical standards and knowledge of principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK
  • Knowledgeable in geotechnical studies, including good understanding of basic soil mechanics and familiar with geological maps and published geological data
  • Ability to follow instruction, be self-motivated, exhibit a proactive approach with desire to learn, work well within a team environment, and willing to be flexible to work nationally as required
  • Full UK driving licence essential and valid CSCS Card (if not held, the Company will facilitate)
  • Ability to travel to different sites
