Ultrasound Department Assistant

Job Overview
University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Assistant to join the Maternity Ultrasound Department. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the merging of Maternity services across East Dorset, creating a unique chance for a friendly and welcoming assistant to make a positive impact.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, requiring excellent customer service skills, as well as administrative and IT expertise. Your duties will include greeting patients, booking appointments, entering patient details into IT systems, and directing patients within the department.
Additional responsibilities include performing height and weight measurements, checking the PACS system to ensure patient images are stored, and assisting Sonographers in their duties. You will also be responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels within the department.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide a reception service for patients, ensuring correct patient details and maintaining confidentiality.
- Offer an efficient, friendly, and confidential booking, advice, and information service to patients.
- Liaise with patients, clinical staff, and medical staff to ensure patients are examined within nationally agreed waiting time targets.
- Assist the Radiology Team in delivering Diagnostic Services in line with nationally agreed waiting time targets.
- Care for the needs of patients before, during, and after their examination, respecting their dignity and ensuring their safe departure from the ultrasound department.
