Job Title: Head of English

We are seeking an exceptional educator to lead our English department and drive student achievement.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an inspiring English curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Leading a team of English teachers to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating student progress, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to address these.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to promote cross-curricular themes and enhance student learning.
  • Ensuring that assessment is robust and in line with school expectations.
  • Developing a shared understanding with parents and carers of the curriculum, approach to learning, and standards of work expected.
Key Responsibilities:

The Head of English will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of an ambitious English curriculum.
  • Ensuring that teaching and learning are of the highest quality.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the English curriculum.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to promote a culture of excellence.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience of leading a team of teachers.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong subject knowledge and expertise in English.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
